i worked on several separate yet related projects (some of which are still ongoing) whilst in residence at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, with a focus on video and installation, under the working titles: Rolling, UnRavelling, Rubbish (to go) and Love Notes to New York.

UnRavelling deals with a personal tendancy towards mapping. Here (again) the map becomes equal to the territory, and addresses the physically arduous, often ludicrous and seemingly pointless repetitive processes i continually engage with, both in my art practice and in life.

Love Notes to New York is a site-based ‘paper graffiti’ and 'lo-fi' photography project that engages with the nostalgic, romanticised idea of New York City, and the ongoing love affair that i have with this great fantasy machine. my intention was to post Love Notes throughout New York, documenting each location with a photo (a photographic map). i launched this project at the SVA Open Studio show, inviting people to take a Love Note (person as site), and, if they wanted to further participate, have their photo taken to become part of the installation, in place of the note they took. I have since continued to insert the Love Notes into the New York City landscape, documenting each location with a photo. you can see all the photos here.
